] CALL FOR CASE STUDIES - BPF Data and New Technologies

Dear All,

The BPF Data and New Technologies in an Internet Context has launched a Call for case studies:

The BPF is looking for case studies and examples of how stakeholders address the challenges that emerge when collecting and using users’ data.

Case studies can be:

  *   examples of applications (deployed or under development) that use users’ data, and the measures that are taken to avoid that collected data may be used in ways that harm the user.
  *   examples of frameworks, guidelines and policies that address these challenges.

We recommend to have a look at the BPF’s ‘Data and New Technologies Issues Card<https://www.intgovforum.org/multilingual/content/data-new-technologies-issues-card>’, as it might help to structure your case study. Of course, we don’t expect case studies to cover all the different challenges listed on the issues card.

The BPF is interested in case studies related as well as unrelated to Covid-19.
Covid-19 has in many ways accelerated discussions on data and new technologies. However, several of the concerns pre-date the pandemic or are similar to concerns about the use of users’ data in other contexts.

Received case studies will be published on the BPF webpage and feed into the BPF discussions and output document.
